It has almost been a decade since the terrorists attack on Hotel Taj Palace took place but people still have a fresh memory of the incident. Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif hinted in his recent interview to a newspaper called Dawn that it was Pakistan terrorists who carried out the Mumbai attacks of 26/11.
The Indian Government claimed that it was Lashkar-e-Taiba group who sailed all the way from Karachi to Mumbai aiming at a disastrous operation. Hafiz Saeed and Maulana Masood Azhar’s Jamaat-ud-Dawah and Jaish-e-Mohammad were said to be the men behind the 26/11 attacks but the former Prime Minister seems to have refused to take any of the names on the interview. “Why would we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 men in Mumbai, explain it to me?” spoke Nawaz Shariff.
The case of Mumbai attacks is still on in the court since 2009 and the final judgement seems to take its own time, except for Kasab who was found guilty of the attacks. The 20 year old terrorist was decided by the court to be hanged to death.
Saeed who was one of the main accused, was released after 10 months of house arrest and the Pakistan Government, in a way, backed the judgement quoting the equality of law.
