Jagadguru Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya is no more. The 69th Shankaracharya Guru who is head of Kanchi Koti Kamakoti Peetham was seen dead today. He breathed his last on Wednesday. He is suffering from breath related issues and was admitted to hospital on January 14th.
He was treated with good care and got discharged too. He resumed his health and other things in few weeks and went to the darshan of his devotees as well. Now after about a month of his discharge, his health issues got escalated especially with breath related problems and the ailment failed.
Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham was established by Sri Adi Sankara in the year 482 BC. It has been the most popular Peetham since ages. This Guru is born on 18th July 1935 and known as Subramanya Mahadev Iyer basically. He was also nominated to the same position by his predecessor Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal and as his successor and was given the pontifical title Sri Jayendra Saraswathi on 22 March 1954. He will now be succeeded by Vijayendra Saraswati.
