Renowned mimicry artist Nerella Venu Madhav (aged 85) has passed away early in the morning today. (19th June). It is heard that the senior artist had been suffering from health issues for the last few months.
Nerella Venu Madhav was born in the year 1932 in Mattevada village, Warangal district. His parents were Sri Hari and Sri Lakshmi. Venu Madhav entered into the art of mimicry in 1947, when he was just 15 years old. He went on and performed across the globe in several countries. He performed in different languages like Telugu, Hindi, English, Urdu, Tamil, etc.
Nerella Venu Madhav was honored with Sri Raja Lakshmi award in 1981. He had also received the honorable Padma Shri award in 2001 for his signficant work in mimicry. He was titled with Doctorate by Andhra and Kakatiya Universities.
Venu Madhav had also tried his luck in politics and contested for M.L.C post in 1971 when P.V. Narasimha Rao was holding the Chief Minister status.
